WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LAKME FASHION WEEK

After two years in a digital format, post-pandemic the iconic FDCI x Lakme Fashion week has returned this week in Delhi and we’ve already fallen in love with the exceptional craftsmanship and stand-out shows we’ve seen so far.

As the week-long fashion extravaganza continues, expect to hear just a few household names such as Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rina Dhaka, Khanijo, Payal Pratap and Anju Modi among other iconic brands. There are also, however, some new designer’s on the scene, of whom we are particularly excited about, such as Manish Malhotra who will be expanding his collection with a new launch; Diffuse which is being described as an ‘ease-to-couture’ according to Vogue.

During Day two - which is traditionally dedicated to designers exploring sustainable alternatives and initiatives - we watched a list of labels showcasing eco-conscious collections and the return of the Circular Design Challenge by R|Elan™ in partnership with FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week, United Nations in India and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Bandit by Satyajit Vetoska won the third edition of this sustainable initiative for his efforts on upcycling common materials into functional, durable designs.

Thanks to last year’s demand for live streaming,  This year too, FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week will live stream all its runway and atelier shows to reach a far and wide audience.
