From Couture to Complexion: Why Amrika is Expanding Into South Asian Beauty

Luxury has never been about one category.

It's about craftsmanship. Heritage. Storytelling. Innovation.

At Amrika, we've always believed that South Asian creatives deserve a global stage—not because they're "emerging", but because they're creating some of the most exciting luxury products in the world.

That's why we've spent years curating exceptional fashion from independent South Asian designers who are redefining occasionwear, craftsmanship and contemporary luxury.

Today, we're proud to take the next step in that journey.

This South Asian Heritage Month, we're introducing skincare to Amrika with the arrival of Sachi Skin—our very first luxury skincare brand.

Because celebrating South Asian creativity shouldn't stop at what's hanging in your wardrobe.

It should extend to every part of your lifestyle.

More Than Fashion

From intricate embroidery techniques passed through generations to innovative contemporary silhouettes, South Asian designers have long influenced the global luxury industry.

Yet their stories often remain underrepresented.

Amrika was created to change that.

Our mission has always been simple: create a platform where independent South Asian founders, designers and creatives can be discovered by customers around the world.

Fashion was just the beginning.

As we continue to grow, we're excited to spotlight founders creating exceptional products across beauty, jewellery and lifestyle—brands that share our commitment to craftsmanship, innovation and authentic storytelling.

Because luxury isn't confined to one industry.

It's a mindset.

Why Sachi Skin?

When we first discovered Sachi Skin, it felt like a natural extension of everything Amrika stands for.

Founded by Farah Bashir, Sachi Skin blends centuries of Ayurvedic wisdom with modern dermatological science to create clinically driven skincare designed with melanin-rich skin in mind.

Like every founder we work with, Farah isn't simply creating products.

She's challenging an industry.

After struggling with PCOS-related acne, hyperpigmentation and eczema herself, she realised that many skincare solutions simply weren't designed for women who looked like her.

Instead of accepting the gap, she decided to build something better.

As Farah explains:

"Sachi Skin didn't come from a business plan. It came from years of not being able to heal and treat my own skin with what was already on the market."

That commitment to solving real problems rather than following trends is exactly the kind of entrepreneurship Amrika exists to champion.

Celebrating South Asian Heritage Through Innovation

South Asian Heritage Month is about recognising the stories, cultures and innovations that continue to shape communities across the world.

For us, that means celebrating founders who honour their heritage while pushing their industries forward.

Farah beautifully describes Sachi Skin as bringing together two legacies:

"The deep heritage of Ayurvedic healing botanicals and the precision of advanced dermatology."

Rather than treating heritage as a marketing trend, every ingredient is carefully researched, clinically tested and chosen because it performs.

It's a philosophy we deeply admire.

Across every brand we introduce at Amrika, authenticity comes before aesthetics.

Representation Matters

One of the most powerful moments from our conversation with Farah was hearing how little she felt represented within the beauty industry growing up.

She explained that many products simply weren't formulated with South Asian or melanin-rich skin in mind.

Instead of waiting for the industry to change, she built the brand she wished had existed.

Representation has always been central to Amrika too.

Whether it's through fashion or now skincare, we believe visibility matters.

When customers discover founders who share their stories, cultures and lived experiences, they're not simply buying a product.

They're investing in businesses helping reshape what global luxury looks like.

More Than Products—A Platform

Launching Sachi Skin marks an exciting new chapter for Amrika.

But it isn't the destination.

It's another step towards building a curated destination where customers can discover exceptional South Asian founders across multiple luxury categories.

Fashion.

Jewellery.

Beauty.

And beyond.

Each new brand strengthens our mission of shining a global spotlight on independent South Asian creativity.

Meet the Founder

We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate this launch than by sitting down with Sachi Skin founder Farah Bashir to learn more about her journey, her heritage and the inspiration behind one of today's most exciting skincare brands.

From discussing Ayurvedic ingredients and modern science to why authentic cultural storytelling matters more than ever, Farah shares the experiences that shaped Sachi Skin and the advice she'd give to the next generation of South Asian entrepreneurs.
